  1. How not to share incomplete downloads

  6. It is very annoying to find that the file you are after downloading from another WinMX user is incomplete.
  7. I have therefore put together this expanation of "how not to share incomplete downloads".
  8. It is upto you whether you use it or not.
  9. However many experienced users do not like seeing lists with loads of incomplete downloads in them.
  10. I am sure that you would not want to browse another WinMX user, only to find loads of incomplete files.

  14. It is best to do this when you are not downloading or uploading.

  16. 1    Create a new Folder called something like "INCOMPLETE Downloads".
  17. 2    Click the "Settings" button at the top of the WinMX screen, a window opens.
  18. 3    On the left of the Window, click "File Transfers".
  19. 4    In the top right of the window, where it says "Incoming Files Folder", note what the current folder is.
  20. 5    Then click the "Change" button, to change the "Incoming Files Folder".
  21. 5    Browse to and set this to the folder that you created in "1" above.
  22. 6    Move any of your incomplete files from the original folder, noted in "4" above to the "New Folder".

  24. 7    DO NOT Share this directory withing WinMX
  25. 8    When a download is complete move it to an approiate shared folder elsewhere on you machine.

  27. 9    To share "Folders" click the "Shared Files" button in WinMX, then "Share Folder" and share it
  28. 10    To unshare a "Folder" highlight the "Folder" and click the "Unshare Folder" Button.

  33. when you copy any newly completed files from your "INCOMPLETE Downloads" folder to your appropiate "COMPLETED Downloads" folder, you will have to "Refresh" your shares. Do this by clicking the "Refresh Button" in the "Shared Files" window.

  39. C:\WinMX\COMPLETED Downloads\        Folder for completed downloads, which needs to be shared
  40. C:\WinMX\COMPLETED Downlaods\Films\    Optional Folder for completed Film downloads...
